Specialist facade contractor, CCL Facades, has been awarded a £1.8m contract to design, supply and install a glazing system at The Guinness Partnership’s new affordable housing development in Stockport.
The appointment has seen CCL Facades join main contractor, Caddick, on site at Edward Street where the team is building an 11-storey apartment building, which will bring 131 new one and two-bedroom homes to Stockport.
CCL Facades’ contract includes the creation of a glazing system, incorporating curtain walling and a variety of glass and spandrel panels, including CCL Facades’ own A2-rating aluminum Speedpanel, which is manufactured in the UK.
The appointment marks a growth in high-rise residential projects for CCL Facades following the facade specialist’s inception in 2022.
Parent company, Caddick, has been on site at Edward Street since last Autumn when Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, and leader of Stockport Council, Mark Hunter, joined project partners to mark the start of construction.
The new development at Edward Street will provide 63 homes for affordable rent and 68 for social rent and adds to the 12,000 homes managed by The Guinness Partnership in the Greater Manchester area, and their 70,000 homes across England.
Edward Street adds to Caddick’s work on behalf of The Guinness Partnership, which includes Cherry Tree Court in Salford and The Hedgerows in Pilsley, a joint venture with housing associations in the Sheffield City Region.
Tony Blake, Managing Director at CCL Facades, comments: “High-rise residential developments are always rewarding contracts for our team because we develop solutions that ensure both safety and aesthetic. Joining our colleagues at Caddick also means we can work collaboratively, ensuring an efficient delivery of these important social housing homes for the Stockport community.”
Dave Saville, Regional Managing Director of Caddick Construction North West, added: “We have worked with The Guinness Partnership on a number of developments, and this has given us a very solid foundation for an exceptional project at Edward Street. Bringing CCL Facades into the project team has enhanced this hand-in-glove approach, which will be fundamental to the quality and efficiency of our work for The Guinness Partnership.”
