CCL Facades Completes Landmark Facade At 4 Wellington Place

CCL Facades has completed the full cladding and glazing package for 4 Wellington Place, delivering a high-performance and visually striking facade on behalf of main contractor, Wates Construction.

The project at 4 Wellington Place has seen CCL Facades design, supply and install a fully integrated facade solution, combining high-performance glazing, lightweight stone, glass cladding and aluminium rainscreen systems.

Delivered over a 39-week programme, the facade plays a central role in the building’s energy efficiency, weather resistance and overall aesthetic. The package included high-performance glazing and curtain walling, using the ALUPROF MB-SR60N mullion and transom system.

The curtain wall incorporated solar control double-glazed units, helping to regulate solar gain and enhance occupant comfort. Complementing this, digitally printed look-alike panels and Speedpanel systems were installed to maintain visual consistency.

Specialist door systems were also integrated, including the MB-86 Fold Line folding doors and MB-77HS lift-and-slide doors, offering high levels of thermal performance, with the MB-77HS also achieving rigorous weather testing standards for use in tall buildings.

A key architectural feature of the scheme was the use of lightweight stone and glass cladding. CCL Facades installed Alsecco Gascoigne Blue Airtec lightweight stone, supported by a bespoke framework.

This is complemented by heat-soak-tested safety glass panels, Alsecco Airtec Glass cladding and aluminium rainscreen cladding with fully integrated flashings to ensure durability and a high-quality finish.

Tony Blake, Managing Director of CCL Facades, commented:

“The completion of 4 Wellington Place is a fantastic achievement for our team and a great example of how our technical expertise can be applied. This project required the seamless integration of a wide range of facade systems, each with its own performance and aesthetic demands. High-performance glazing, lightweight stone and specialist cladding elements come together as a single, cohesive envelope that meets the architect’s vision and achieves quality, durability and energy performance.” Tony Blake, Managing Director of CCL Facades
